A bell is characterized by its musical note or by its diameter measured at the base.
The bigger the diameter, the lower the note ; the more powerful the bell, the farther the sound will carry.

This table indicates the relationship between the diameter and the note of a bell.
If several bells are to be installed together, they will have to form a chord according to the rules of harmony. The bells will be progressively " thickened " so that high-note bells are not drowned out by low-note bells.

The size of the tower sets the maximal size of the bells that can be installed in this tower. If the tower is not strong enough, the bells will be outfitted with arched yokes that will significantly reduce the stress on the tower construction.

It is always possible to change the chosen chord, half-tone by half-tone, in order to obtain a set of larger or smaller bells.

This can be adapted to all budgets : if this is a comfortable setup, traditional bells with crowns will be chosen, especially if they are visible from outside. If the setup is too tight, bells with flat tops will be chosen which are significantly cheaper while keeping the sound quality.

Par exemple: DO4 - RE4  - MI4             (389kg)
devient SOL# 3  - LA # 3  - DO4   (810kg)
ou RE4   - MI4  - FA # 4        (269kg)

The only thing left will be to determine the decoration and inscriptions which will personalize the bell. A bell can be given a name, can be decorated with a cross, with the image of the patron saint...Inscriptions must be carefully chosen because it shows the spirit in which the bell was given to the village. This inscription will survive those who made it and will pass on its message to the future generations.
